Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic School’s varsity girl’s basketball team clinched a playoff berth in late December for the third year in row.
For the past two years, the Lady Cheetahs were All Catholic Conference North Division champions with a record of 15-3 in those years combined.
Despite a slow start to the season, that included an injury to co-captain Maylizze Santos, the team was inspired to reach the playoffs with some motivation from their coach Alan Gonzalez.
Co-captain and eighth-grader Kyamara Montero and seventh-grade point guard Alexa Gonzalez played pivotal roles in helping the Cheetahs reach the quarterfinal round. The team faced Sts. Peter and Paul in the semi-finals earlier this month.
