In the neighborhood near Miami Lake’s Picnic Park East is the Miami Lakes Business Center.
The blue office building in the 15200 block of Northwest 60th Avenue is smaller than some of the structures in the business park.
The office condos were built in 1979 and are owned by the Florida Jersey Group, according to the Miami Dade County Property Appraisers office.
Realtor Melissa Aponte of The Keyes Company says location is what attracts companies to that part of town, especially for offices.
“We have the Gratigny [Parkway], which connects to the Palmetto [Expressway], which connects to I-75,” Aponte said. “Then we have the [southbound] Palmetto on the other side, so we’re very centrally located.”
Those connections allow business owners to move easily between Miami-Dade and Broward counites connections to multiple airports and ports.
Aponte says the name Miami Lakes also attracts people to the area and says it’s prestigious to be located in town.
“A lot of businesses want to be anywhere where they can have a physical address that includes the name Miami Lakes on it,” Aponte said.
She says it gives businesses a different leverage to say they’re in Miami Lakes.
The area around the office park may change after plans to connect Northwest 59th Avenue via a bridge to Northwest 154th Street go through. The project will bring more people to the area.
“It will open up a whole new door for the type of employees we’re able to [attract],” Aponte said.
It would also make commuting easier for those workers as well as residents in the town who visit companies in the area.
“[It’ll be] more opportunities and more ways for people to get to work happy,” Aponte said.
Miami Lakes Business Center has five businesses that include Centro Biblico Internacional, a Spanish language church and its community center; Amni Motors Inc., a used car dealer; Harlequin Title Corporation and Premier Realty Sales Corporation.
Nearby and next to Picnic Park East is a large warehouse with two businesses: Advanced Label & Marking and ViaMed/Rece International Corp., a medical supply company.
That building was built in 1974 and is owned by KLD Corporation, according to the Property Appraisers office.
Rounding out the curve is Public Storage; the building was built in 1972 and is owned by Storage Trust Properties.
