Monsignor Edward Pace High School’s Annual Drama Gala, which took place February 21, helped students fundraise, promote an upcoming production, and provided an enthusiastic audience for the many talented performers in the Drama Academy.
Students involved in the International Thespian Society and Drama Academy performed pieces from different plays and musicals, the last time they would perform them before the International Theatre State Conference in Tampa this month.
The gala, which helped fundraise for the state competition, was labeled a success.
“This was the best that I've seen from these performers,” said Cristina Pla-Guzman, Drama Program Director.
Performers for the upcoming production, In the Heights, also previewed a scene at the gala to further build anticipation for the show scheduled for Tuesday, April 29 through Thursday, May 1. Pre-sale tickets are $12, tickets at the door are $15, and V.I.P tickets are $15. The show will be performed in the Spartan Center at Monsignor Edward Pace High School.
The gala also offered an opportunity to promote Pace's latest endeavor, the construction of a performing arts center. The new center will include a stage and stadium-style seating with a capacity of 300. It will also house a classroom for those taking performance arts classes.
