Perry J. Cohen Foundation hosts free boating safety class

Community Thursday, June 16, 2016

Last summer, 14-year-old boys Perry Cohen and Austin Stephanos went missing at sea while fishing. Following their disappearances, the Perry J. Cohen Foundation was founded by Cohen’s mother Pamela Cohen and stepfather, Nick Korniloff. The foundation strives to educate on boating safety in conjunction with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.

A free boating safety single session course will take place at the Mary Collins Community Center, 15151 N.W. 82 Avenue in Miami Lakes, on June 25 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Individuals and families are welcome though seating is limited and those interested in attending should register by contacting Ed Zaret at 305-586-3564 or emailing edwardzaret@comcast.net.
Those who complete the course and pass a final exam will receive a Florida Boating Safety Education ID Card in the mail. Additionally, those who complete the course may be eligible for insurance discounts.

Coffee and pastries will be available upon early arrival. For more information on the Perry J. Cohen Foundation visit www.pjcf.org.
