Pets of Miami Lakes

Say hello to Mixie Ghost! The black, white and gray striped tabby kitten with four white boots is the newest pet to join the Quintana-Gonzalez family in Miami Lakes. It’s hard to get a good photo of the 7-month-old girl because “she is always moving!” Cathy Quintana-Gonzalez said. Other household members are Cathy’s husband Omar Gonzalez, their son Gabriel and daughter KiKi. There is also another cat named Snickers and a tank of fish that entertain the felines.

Gabriel named the kitten Mixie and her middle name comes from a type of pepper. Mixie’s mother is a stray known in the neighborhood and is called Pepper.

“She is slim and delicate,” Quintana-Gonzalez said about the kitten. “Mixie was part of a litter born in the wild and was the only kitten to survive. She’s super playful, very sweet. She doesn’t scratch or bite.”

Mixie’s favorite toy is a bunch of feathers that hang from an elastic string attached to a stick. She also likes to dab her paw in the fish tank water, prompting the fish to swim up to her and then dart away.
