If the U.S. State Dept. issued passports to dogs, Blanche, the apricot Toy Poodle, would have one.
An energetic 9-year-old girl named for a sassy character on the “Golden Girls” TV show, she was born in northern Japan.
Blanche has lived in three countries and traveled extensively with owner Dr. Patricia Hammer, a physician and retired major in the U.S. Air Force.
Blanche keeps Hammer’s grandmother Rosa Nell Hammer company. They watch the world go by from their Miami Lakes home, and she lets the family know when an Amazon delivery has arrived.
“She’s our little guard dog,” Hammer said.
Blanche will dance for treats, and enjoys meeting new people and dogs at K-9 Cove, the town dog park, and during walks around Veterans Park, Hammer said.
