Spanish Lake Elementary School has chosen its top teachers for the 2020 - 2021 school year.
Teresa E. Murphy is Teacher of the Year and on Feb. 4 she was named the 2022 Francisco R. Walker Teacher of the Year. Murphy teaches 4th graders multiple subjects: Reading/language arts; Math, Science and Social Studies.
She has been in classrooms since 1993 and at Spanish Lake Elementary since 2016.
Murphy is also a finalist in the North Region for Miami-Dade County Schools Teacher of the Year.
Rookie Teacher of the Year is Carol Ramos, who has been at the school, at 7940 NW 194th St., for four years.
She teaches Reading and Math ESE to grades K - 3.
