Super Saturday April 29 features Healthy Kid’s Day

Miami Lakes Youth Activities Task Force (YATF), in partnership with the YMCA of South Florida, will celebrate Healthy Kid’s Day and Sports-a-Palooza during Super Saturday at the Park on Saturday, April 29, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Miami Lakes Picnic Park West, 15151 N.W. 82 Avenue.

The free family event will consist of a family fair with activities for children and adults including information and resources from community service providers, local vendors, raffle giveaways, music, entertainment, and more. Families will be able to enjoy healthy food demonstrations, a fitness showcase and interactive games. 

YATF’s Sports-a-Palooza will offer skills and drills in sports activities including volleyball, soccer, Frisbee and Flag Tag. 

During Super Saturday, Miami Lakes Public Safety Committee will partner with FIU’s Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine’s Medical Students Working to Improve Society & Health (MedSWISH) at the weekly Farmer’s Market. MedSWISH is a medical student-run community service organization that provides health screenings and education for community members. Along with faculty, MedSWISH will offer stroke prevention education, in honor of the upcoming Stroke Awareness Month, as well as free glucose, blood pressure, and BMI screenings. 

The Farmer’s Market will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Other activities during Super Saturday include the Community Bike Ride with registration at 7:30 a.m. and the 5-mile family-friendly loop at 8 a.m.; Yoga in the Park from 9 to 10 a.m.; and Boot Camp from 10 to 11 a.m.
