The Miami Lakes Senior Softball program is celebrating the start of its fifth year. In September 2009, George Pringle worked with the Town of Miami Lakes Elderly Affairs Committee to implement the program.

Today, Pringle is a star performer. Games are held at 9 a.m. every Monday and Wednesday on Field No. 2 at Miami Lakes Optimist Park. Male players are 60 and older while females of any age are invited to play, and several very talented females have participated.

The games do not include any base running, which minimizes leg and arm injuries. This also enables seniors, who no longer can run, to play. The rules are structured to enhance participation and enjoyment. Bats and balls are provided. Players bring their own gloves.

In addition to Pringle, current regular players include Jose Caballero, Andres Clavijo, Lee Collins, Bruce Davidson, Glenn Davis, Mariano Fernandez, Peter Fishel, Ernie Garcia, Rick Garcia, Roland Gomez (when in town), Jim Hamilton (when not at Miami Lakes Sports Shop), Angel Hernandez, Bob Jones, Jackie King, Terry Kushi, Dave Oliver, Alfredo Rodriguez, Fred Rodriguez, Angel Sosa, Gary Snow and Donna Tormes.

Anyone interested in playing or having questions are asked to call Dave Oliver at 305-822-9680.
