Last April, cancer robbed us of our dad, Sergio Campos. While the loss has been devastating to our family, the community support has brought healing to our broken hearts. Over the past few months, mom has received beautiful letters and emails from residents across Miami Lakes.
From staff at town hall to the cashiers at the nearby Publix, everyone has had touching things to say about “Papi.” The posthumous award of “Keys to the Town of Miami Lakes” and adding “Sergio Campos Way” to Lochness Drive mean the world to us! Thank you for recognizing my dad in these special ways. While our broken hearts are far from mended, they are comforted by the outpouring of support.
My parents have lived in Miami Lakes, in the same house, since I was a teenager. Dad was the president of the Loch Ness Homeowner’s Association for more than two decades, and mom – everyone knows – was his right-hand person in the association. To say they love Miami Lakes is a major understatement! You have my deepest gratitude for returning that love in-kind.
My thanks to The Miami Laker for the opportunity to share this message with the residents of Miami Lakes. Wishing all of your readers a blessed holiday season.
