Sports Friday, September 20, 2019

Barbara Goleman Senior High School’s football team is off to its best start in school history.
The Gators (4-0) remained undefeated last week with a 46-6 home victory over Alonzo and Tracy Mourning Senior High on Sept. 11.
The Sharks became the latest Gator bait: On their way to a so far undefeated record, the team ranked 204 in the state defeated Ronald W. Reagan Doral Senior High, 48-7; Felix Varela Senior High, 35-7 and G. Holmes Braddock Senior High, 34-14.
The Gators last made the playoffs in 2005.
Goleman Wide Receiver Zachary Valcarcel leads the Gators this season with 214 receiving yards and 7 touchdowns, according to MaxPreps.
The 5-10, 170-pound senior had 4 receptions for 78 yards and three touchdowns in the Gators’ victory over Mourning.
The Gators will try to improve to 5-0 at the halfway mark of their season when they host Hialeah Gardens Senior High School (2-1) on Sept. 26.
