STU professor and longtime Lakes resident James Conely honored at his retirement

Miami Lakes Mayor Manny Cid recently honored St. Thomas University professor Dr. James Conely during his retirement ceremony at Don Shula’s Hotel in Miami Lakes. 

 The long time Miami Lakes resident has served in various roles at St. Thomas University during the past 40 years including a professor of English, Comparative Literature and Communication Arts. 

 Before he joined St. Thomas University, Conely taught at Villanova University, Montgomery County Community College, University of Wisconsin and Gonzaga-in- Florence. 

 Conley earned his Ph. D from the University of Wisconsin, a Master’s from Middlebury College and Bachelor’s from Georgetown University. 

 “He believes in the power of education and service to others,” Cid said. “I wish Dr. Conley all the best in retirement.
