The Town of Miami Lakes recently designated a street to honor the late Rev. James P. Murphy, the well-known and longtime pastor of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church.

Miami Lakeway North, between N.W. 67 Avenue and Miami Lakes Drive, is now known as Father Murphy Way. More than 100 people attended the September 13 sign dedication ceremony held at the location of the new sign adjacent to the Church.

“In recognition of Father Murphy’s many years of service to the community and its residents, the Miami Lakes Town Council wanted to honor him with this designation,” said Mayor Wayne Slaton. “Whenever people travel on Father Murphy Way, they can remember the great impact he made on so many lives in our community.”
