Jose Marti MAST Academy hosted its annual Teacher of the Year ceremony on January 31. All of the district’s Teachers of the Year were invited to attend. The finalists along with the winners for the district were recognized by their school system. Jennifer Torino was named teacher of the Year for Jose Marti and Lucia Morales was named Rookie Teacher of the Year. Pictured (from left) are Torino, principal Jose Enriquez and Morales.
On February 19, Virginia Ladeira (pictured above), fourth grader and Leah Rios (pictured below), seventh grader, participated and represented Miami Lakes K-8 Center (MLK-8) at The Miami Herald Spelling Bee held at The University of Miami. The 79th annual competition included students from Miami-Dade and Monore County schools. Both girls did an outstanding job and experienced what many do not have the opportunity to do.
