Silver Knight finalists announced

Area high schools announced their students who have been chosen as finalists for the 62nd Annual Miami Herald Silver Knight Awards. The ceremony will be held May 14 at the James L. Knight Center in Miami. Winners are eligible for a cash prize and statue. They are recognized in different categories for excelling at academics and community service. Annual shoe drive underway for Camillus House

The Town of Miami Lakes has partnered with Loving Soles since 2013 to collect shoes for impoverished residents of Camillus House in downtown Miami, Town Clerk Gina Inguanzo said in a press statement. This year, the Miami Lakes-based charity is working with students from town to coordinate collection efforts.
