This year, $147 million has been allocated to improve buildings across Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS). More than 60 schools have unveiled their newest additions, and among them are some local schools.
For Palm Springs North Elementary School, a total of $3.7 million was used to build a one-story building addition that will hold 10 classrooms and 180 new student stations. A Physical Education shelter was added, as well as new basketball courts and internal restrooms.
Hialeah Miami Lakes Senior High School invested $6.7 million in demolishing portables as well as a bus drop-off addition, reparation of sidewalks and selective replacement of doors, ceilings and electric panels. Exterior painting was also part of the renovations.
An investment of $7 million was given to American Senior High School for a variety of renovations that included new classroom technology, additional exterior lighting and new plumbing fixtures.
