St. Thomas adds two players to men's soccer team in 2019
St. Thomas University’s (STU) men’s soccer team added two players for the 2019-2020 season.
Fernando Morandi and Miguel Rubio signed on to play for the Bobcats in hopes of reaching the next level in college soccer, head coach Feliks Mats announced during a news conference.
Morandi joins STU after four seasons at Doral Academy starting every game and going 20-2 as a senior while also playing for Juventus Academy Miami.
Morandi will be an incoming freshman in the fall of 2019 and plans on majoring in Business Administration.
Rubio, a goalkeeper from Monteria, Colombia, transfers to STU from Riverland Community College (MN) where he played in seven games in the 2018 season going 3-2-1 as a starter and recording two shutouts. Rubio recorded five saves in a win in September. In Colombia, Rubio played for the Equidad Seguros 19U Professional Team.
Rubio enrolls at STU for the Fall 2019 semester and is undecided on a major.
