  U.S. Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart recently honored students at Mater Lakes Academy for recording perfect scores on the FCAT. He also recognized principal Rene Rovirosa for saving the life of student Devon Octave, who went into cardiac arrest on October 31. Diaz-Balart is joined by students Mercedes Ferreira-Dias, Ana Otero, Gillian Peraza, Nya Segura-Watson, Mateo Alzate, Adhm Farid and Rovirosa.

  Boys and girls can register for the Miami Lakes Optimist Club’s 2014 baseball and softball season on three consecutive Saturdays, starting January 4 and continuing on January 11 and 18.
